Artful consists of John Godfrey as Managing Consultant and adds the expertise of other professional consultants and trainers as required.
John Godfrey, Managing Consultant
John Godfrey founded Artful Fundraising in 2004. He is a graduate of the New Zealand Drama School and later achieved a Graduate Diploma in Arts Administration in Adelaide, South Australia; a MSc in Business Administration at Napier University, Edinburgh with a dissertation on business support for the arts; and a BA in Opera Studies from Rose Bruford College, London. He has had twenty years experience as a fundraiser and a manager working in theatres, festivals and higher education in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. He has directed sponsorship programmes for the Sydney and the Edinburgh International Festivals, managed Edinburgh University’s £20M capital fundraising programme for a new medical research institute and was director of a £5M campaign for Napier University, Edinburgh. Subsequently he has worked on a number of major gift campaigns as a consultant. In 2004 he completed a dissertation on business support for the arts and founded Artful Fundraising which is now based in Sydney, Australia.
Clients for whom John has assisted as a consultant include the National Library of Scotland, the University of Stirling, Heriot-Watt University, Queensland University of Technology, the University of Technology Sydney, Auckland Grammar School, the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, craftscotland and Visiting Arts (London).
Conference and master class presentations have included ; the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand Conference, 2008; the South Asian Fundraising Group (SAFRAG) , New Delhi 2008; the ADAPE International Conference, Auckland 2006; the (UK) Institute of Fundraising’s Scotland Conference 2005, 2006 & 2007, North-West Conference 2005 and 2006, and Wales in 2006
